Can traveling the world make us open not only to exoticism, but also to “Polishness”? This is the question the Emigration Museum in Gdynia raised while announcing the first edition of a contest for travelers – the Paweł Edmund Strzelecki Award. The assessment concerned a film or photographic attempt at portraying a Polish emigrant. The material may focus on any Pole living abroad, whose story incites admiration, interest and deserves to be presented in front of a wider audience.
The Award’s patron is personified by Paweł Edmund Strzelecki – a distinguished traveler, explorer, discoverer, and the first Pole to attempt an individual expedition around the world.
You are now encouraged to propose candidates for the award. Their recruitment will proceed until January 10, 2014. The laureates of the first edition will be selected next year, during the next National Meeting of Travelers, Sailors, and Mountaineers “KOLOSY” in Gdynia. We hope the Award will become a permanent feature of this important event.
