The Emigration Museum and the Strefa WolnoSłowa Foundation are inviting you to participate in a theatre project. It will result in a performance presented on 18th December, during the celebrations of the International Migrants Day.
The theatre classes as well as the play are a part of the project Multicultural Gdynia – Tradition of hospitality which is conducted by the Emigration Museum in Gdynia in 2016. So far, the foreigners who live in Gdynia could perfect their Polish language skills, get to know Gdynia during guided walks and see the exhibition at 1 Polska Street. The time for the ending event on 18th December, that is the International Migrants Day, has come.
The event is prepared by both those who have lived in Gdynia since they were born and those, who have chosen Gdynia as their home and sometimes come to the city from very remote places. Strefa WolnoSłowa, which is known for completing a number of valuable international and intergenerational projects which engage migrants, takes care of the group. The members of the foundation work in Poland and, for example, in Bologna or on the Italian island of Lampedusa. Among others, the members of different nations have created together the plays: „Przecież nie mogę tu zostać” (But I can’t stay here), „Słyszę, jak tłuką się kieliszki od szampana” (I can hear champagne glasses breaking), „Tu jest lepiej, przyjeżdżajcie!” (It’s better here, come quickly!).
We do encourage you to join the international group and work on the show together on 26th November (10:00 AM – 4:30 PM) and 27th November (10:00 AM – 4:30 PM). During the two day long workshops, the organisers as well as the participants will focus on working with your body, non-verbal forms of emotional expression or movement improvisations. It will also be an occasion to spend your free time creatively and to get to know the varied face of Gdynia.
The participation in ithe workshops is free. It does not require acting experience or the ability to speak Polish. We provide lunch and snacks for all the participants.
Registration via email is compulsory – a.kaim@muzeumemigracji.pl. Please send your submissions before 25th November 2016, 2:00 PM.
