Tour the Bobkowski bike urban game

The Emigration Museum in Gdynia hasprepared a unique game for everyone who loves bicycles and good literature, which follows the track of Andrzej Bobkowski. Visit us at 1 Polska Street on 17th September, as a part of the Tour de Bobkowski project. The participants will have a lot of fun, expand their knowledge and… have a chance to win attractive prizes.

Are good writing and the ability to ride a bike connected? One day Leo Tolstoy switched from his favourite horse to a bike, which then was a new invention, and rode it eagerly until the end of his days. Thomas Mann was such a skilled cyclist that he could even read a book while riding a bike!

However, no one can beat Andrzej Bobkowski. In 1940, he cycled from the south of France to Paris, which meant he covered 1,500 km this way. It took him only 23 days! He described his trip in detail on over 500 pages of his Sketches in Ink, which are now considered one of the biggest masterpieces of the Polish 20th century literature.

On 17th September, we will set off to follow the traces of Andrzej Bobkowski’s biography. We encourage the inhabitants of Gdynia to take part in the competition, which will not only be very exciting and extend your knowledge on the writer’s work, but also… give you a chance to win attractive prizes. The best four teams will receive Sketches in Ink books, Ortlieb saddlebags and Kryptonite bike locks. All the participants will receive interesting gifts.
