Offer for schools and nursery schools

With our students and nursery school pupils in mind, we have prepared a rich educational programme consistent with the core curriculum of pre-school education and general education in individual types of schools. The varied offer focuses not only on providing knowledge, but also on shaping students’ social, cultural, civic, and digital competences.

We propose acting through methods tailored to the age of participants, including: art techniques, games involving physical movement, simulation exercises, photography, work with a map or tablets. Most of the classes are held in the permanent exhibition area, and individual rooms are used as an educational tool. Apart from the workshops, students have the possibility to familiarise themselves with the exhibition during an active tour with an educator or a tour with a worksheet under supervision of a teacher.

Structure of the educational offer

The educational programme of the Emigration Museum in Gdynia consists of three types of activities:

  1. Active tours
Tours around the permanent exhibition of the Emigration Museum in Gdynia. A qualified educator animates the group by engaging it in creative tasks that require active sightseeing, searching for and analysing information and looking at the presented stories from many angles. The level of difficulty of the tasks and the length of guided tours (60-90 minutes) is adjusted to the age of the participants. Price: PLN 5/person + group concession admission ticket for the exhibition PLN 6/person.
  1. Visiting the exhibition with a task sheet
The activity is intended for groups from primary school grades IV-VIII and for secondary schools. Students receive a set of engaging tasks that they solve on their own based on information available at the exhibition – in texts and multimedia. After the visit, students check and discuss the card together with the teacher who has a set of answers. The cards can be purchased at the Museum’s ticket office at the price of PLN 2/piece.
  1. Workshops for kindergartens and schools
During selected classes, children and teenagers may actively and creatively expand their knowledge in the field of history, geography, public knowledge, as well as visual arts and music. The workshops are planned to help implement the current core curriculum. The descriptions of individual classes are available on the Museum’s website at www.polska1.pl and at the Museum’s ticket office. After the end of the workshop, it is possible to visit the exhibition under the supervision of the teacher using the workshop ticket. Duration of the classes: 60-90 minutes. Price: PLN 10/person
