“Museum. Share!” (“Muzeum. Udostępnij!”) is a project implemented in three editions in 2015-2018, inspired by the popular Swedish education programme en. “Mini-Guides” under which the Naval Museum in Karlskrona increased culture competencies of kids from families under threat of social exclusion. The Naval Museum cooperated with the local school in which migrants, including refugees, account for 98% of students. Thanks to the recognition the youths experienced during the programme, family and community ties were strengthened. The Museum also reached out to people who otherwise would not have taken advantage of its offer. The “Museum. Share!” (“Muzeum. Udostępnij!”) project transferred Scandinavian experiences to Poland and implemented a programme with socio-therapeutic care centres in Gdańsk, which were partners of the project.

Young guides learned that the web offers so much more than Facebook, games, and Youtube, and that a museum was not a temple of glass display cases. Participants of the “Museum. Share!” (“Muzeum. Udostępnij!”) discovered the exhibition of the Emigration Museum in Gdynia in search of what interested them the most. For some of them, it was music, for others, trips and dreams about the big wide world. All of them have created individual, one-of-a-kind sightseeing paths, along which they toured their loved ones.

The unique team of guides of the Emigration Museum in Gdynia aged 10-13 took part in a series of artistic and creative classes that taught them history, auto-presentation, as well as the use of digital resources and multimedia devices. Classes with tablets at an interactive exhibition, workshops using blogs, portals or digitised collections showed how to distinguish facts from opinions and assess the credibility of sources. During the classes, educators encouraged children to trust and help each other, convincing them that it is better to support colleagues than compete against them and there is nothing wrong with relying on proven ideas of others. Everything to end the project by successfully and with a smile take on the role of an important expert – a professional guide at the exhibition of the Emigration Museum in Gdynia.
